public forums
Gathering insights from attendees and members of the public, and blending them together into the big picture.
Downtown Danville
This small city was trying to figure out what to do with a vacant lot in their downtown. During a city-sponsored festival, I spoke with residents about their ideas, then captured those ideas together in one drawing. As the picture started to emerge, more people were inspired to add their own thoughts, their creativity sparked by what their neighbors had contributed. This led to a more diverse set of possible solutions for the city to consider going forward.

Better Bus
The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) hosted a series of public events for residents to learn about coming changes to the transit system. As a way to engage attendees, I spoke with them about their own experiences with the system, and the important role it plays in their lives. The composite image I created provided WMATA valuable insight into the needs of the community and how they depend on the transit system in their day-to-day lives.

Design Charrette
The Kaiser Permanente healthcare system brought together designers and stakeholders to discuss plans for a new hospital in the Washington, DC suburbs. Over the course of the day-long event, I captured their issues and ideas as they came up. With the drawing prominently displayed, participants could see their conversation visualized in real time.
